Ok, so what was that all about? Well, I'll tell you! I am speaking out against the outrage that is the redefining of the word "cute" in the English language. I am here to boldly claim that the word "cute" has been usurped by the female gender for whatever their nefarious purposes may be and it was done so subtly that most people have not even realized what happened. But, guys, your subconscious already understands what has transpired here. How often have your insides squirmed in discomfort to hear yourself labeled as 'cute'? That's your gut instinct telling you something is awry. What exactly has gone wrong here? The word 'cute' was originally an abbreviation of 'acute', meaning of course “keenly perceptive or discerning, shrewd.” What man wouldn't want to be called “keenly perceptive”? Well, not anymore. "Cute" is now used to describe helplessness and other standard characteristics of infancy - not to mention how commonly 'cute' is used interchangeably with 'small'. Take trolls for example; they are ugly fearsome brutes, right? Well, miniaturize them into baby troll dolls and they are suddenly 'cute'. See where I'm going with this? We males have an issue with anything anywhere near us being described as cute because we are essentially being called small and helpless! Well I say, "NO MORE!" We will not go silently into the night! We will not take this belittling descriptor without a fight! Women may claim they don't mean anything denigrating by it but now we know better! This is the day of our vindication! Who's with me? Who's going to stand up to this?! Guys? ... hello? guys? ... anyone?
I am a first year resident in family medicine. Let me tell you what... being an intern in medicine is rough! The bane of my life right now: long work hours.
